FIRST REVIEW from the Adelaide Advertiser on 25/02/2010
The Small Poppies have a killer new show prepared for 2010 which we know you'll love. A rollercoaster ride of apocalyptic proportions, The Small Poppies DON'T CARE (the end of the world is nigh) takes the impending demise of human existence by the neck, gives it a little kiss and then laughs in its face.
The
premise is that Armageddon, in all its various forms, is just
around the corner. Through a series of sketches, and a couple of songs, the Poppies
explore how the world would deal with the coming apocalypse – from the leaders of the world to the pregnant
woman due the week after Doomsday. Some will want to give
in to that old time religion, while others will just want to have
sex (a lot). There’s queuing for Everest and celebrations in the
International Space Station. The Grim Reaper feels overworked
and underappreciated while suicide bombers race against God
to achieve martyrdom in this comic satire. As the clock ticks
forever closer to the final hour, it is clearly a dark time to be
alive, but the Small Poppies want to show that, really, you’ve
got to laugh don’t you?
